# Grant-Tech Support for Linux

Use this package only if you are actively working with a Grant-Tech technician.

## What this installer does

- Downloads the official RustDesk Linux package from GitHub release 1.4.9.
- Installs RustDesk using your Linux package manager when possible:
  - Debian/Ubuntu/Mint: `.deb`
  - Fedora/RHEL/openSUSE-style systems: `.rpm`
  - Other supported Linux desktops: AppImage fallback
- Applies Grant-Tech's self-hosted RustDesk server settings:
  - ID Server: connect.grant-tech.co
  - Relay Server: connect.grant-tech.co
  - Public Key: included in RustDesk2.toml
- Opens RustDesk so you can give Grant-Tech the RustDesk ID and one-time password.

## Customer instructions

1. Download `Grant-Tech-Support-Linux.zip`.
2. Extract the ZIP file.
3. Open a Terminal in the extracted folder.
4. Run:

   chmod +x "Install Grant-Tech Support.sh"
   ./"Install Grant-Tech Support.sh"

5. Enter your Linux password if prompted.
6. When RustDesk opens, give Grant-Tech the ID and one-time password shown in RustDesk.
7. If Linux asks for screen sharing, accessibility, or remote-control permission, allow RustDesk.

## Important Linux note

Linux remote control depends on the desktop environment. If your system uses Wayland and Grant-Tech can view but not control the screen, your technician may ask you to log out and choose an X11/Xorg desktop session for the support call.

## Internal note

This is an attended-support package, not a managed unattended fleet installer. Do not use a shared permanent password for customer devices.
