Our Story

Many years ago (about 30 to be exact) a friend of the family gave me an old AB Dick computer that had a 2 megabyte hard drive that was as big as a file cabinet and a green screen monitor.  At that time no one had a computer in the home, it already had software installed; Wordstar (a word processing program) VisaCalc (a program like Excel), DB1 (a database program) and bunch of other small programs for record keeping.

I played with that computer for months and actually used it for my first business; an advertising specialty company named Grant Incentives. This was way before DOS or home computers…a few years later I purchased my first actual PC an Epson with a 12 inch monitor, a 20 megabyte hard drive and two floppy disk drives.  It was running a DOS operating system and it had Windows 3.1 installed.  I used that computer for about two years and I found myself fixing it and learning the technical side of computer repair and troubleshooting.

I really enjoyed and was really good at fixing computer problems. (At least that’s what everyone told me).  Over the years I found myself focusing more on the management side of technology spending the next 20 years within the local City of Chicago agencies structure in various technology related management positions, but I never really lost the passion for repairing and troubleshooting technical issues relating to computers and technology.  For the last 20 years I have been asked by friends, colleagues and neighbors to fix or repair issues they were having with their computers, printer, etc.

Always being someone who can never say no, I was always proving assistance.  A few years ago my nephew and I had been sitting around at our annual family Christmas party and we started to talk about all the calls we both get to fix someone’s computer.  After an hour or two we both decided that we should go into business together and help home and office clients solve computer problems.

In April of 2010 we started Grant-Tech a place where we could provide the technical support needed to give our clients Peace of Mind when it came to computer problems.   It has been a dream come true to work every day on something you truly enjoy and the best part is seeing our clients use their computers knowing that we are just a phone call away to help solve all there computer needs and give them Peace of Mind knowing that their technology will be working and available when they need it most, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
